Great Ideas for Stuffing Kids Backpack for Back-to-School
The day you thought would never come is finally here. Summer has ended and the kids are off to school. What will you do with all your time once they get on the bus? Every mother feels a little pang of regret as they wave them off at the bus stop. For all their chos and expense of getting them outfitted for school, the quiet that ensues after they leave can be deafening.
What do you do? Walk back to the kitchen and pour yourself a second cup of coffee, and grin. You grin because last night, while they were sleeping, you loaded your kids backpack with little surprises to sustain your little rascals during that first stressful day – going back to school.
Kids love finding little surprises in all the compartments. After all, a child’s backpack is an emergency field kit. They’ll be spending a lot of time on the bus this year, so besides the fruit leather and boxes of juice, hide a few simple games and puzzles in the pockets – to keep those little hands and young minds busy. How about attaching a miniature Rubik’s cube keychain to one of the straps? Or a word game, or maybe attach an electronic pet? Inexpensive toys and games add fun to the ride to school. Little kids often have trouble keeping track of expensive electronic devices, and you will not feel too bad if something is broken or lost. Keep the pricey stuff at home and use pocket games and fun mind puzzles that they can play with friends on their way to school.
Though children won’t know how much love you put in that backpack – or that you stayed up past midnight writing little sticky notes of encouragement where you dotting all your “i”s with little hearts and flowers – but you’ll know that every note is drawn with love.
